DANVILLE, Ill. — James Morrow “Buzz” Keller, 84, Crawfordsville, formerly of Danville and Covington, died at 6:27 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007 at the home of his daughter in Crawfordsville. He was born Aug. 17, 1922 in Covington, the son of George W. and Leota (Cunningham) Keller. He married Jean Williams May 11, 1952. She preceded in death Jan. 21, 1978. He then married Kay Smith Barnes Feb. 3, 1979. She preceded in death Nov. 30, 2005. He was a 1940 graduate of Covington High School, where he played several sports. He was employed at Esco for 40 years, retiring in 1994. He was an active member of Central Christian Church, a life member (62 years) of Anchor Lodge #980 A F & AM, Gao Grotto, Elks. He served 20 years as president of Esco Credit Union now Danville Consolidated Credit Union. He was an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Faith in Action, Meals on Wheels, Neighborhood Watch, and Danville Rescue Mission. He and his wives enjoyed dancing and won several awards. Survivors include: two daughters, Wendy B. (David) Henderson, Dayton, Ohio and Cheryl K. (Richard) Blank, Crawfordsville; a son, James R. Keller, Philadelphia, Pa.; a step son, Doug Barnes, Houston, Texas; a sister, Josephine Bodine, Springfield, Ill.; four grandchildren, Angie Henderson, Amiee Taylor, Ryan Blank, Andi Blank; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother. A celebration of his life was at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Central Christian Church, Danville, Ill. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made to the Central Christian Church or Friendship Circle Center with envelopes available to the funeral home. – jlr
